Appendix 10 Forms and Worksheets

The calculations summarized by the Forms in this Appendix are part of the requirements for this standard.

The load summary form and it's worksheets can be used for hand calculation and are used (by Manual J and MJ8_AE) to summarize solutions to example problems. (Training exercises that use these templates familiarize the student or practitioner with Manual J Tables, equations and procedures. This training is valuable for proper use of "Powered by Manual J" software.)

• All MJ8_AE procedures may be performed by hand.
• Manual J procedures can be performed by hand, except for the AED evaluation (see Appendix 3).
• A complete Manual J solution requires Powered by Manual J" software, or use the spreadsheet that is packaged with this manual.

A10-1 Form J1 and J1_AE

Form J1 and Form J1_AE produce heating and cooling load estimates for the suite of rooms served by central equipment (block load estimate) and a set of heating and cooling loads for each room. Worksheets are used to convert survey data to HTM's, areas, and other values that used by Forms J1 and J1_AE.

Manual J uses Worksheets A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, and I. MJ8_AE uses Worksheets A, B, C, D, E, G, and H. In some cases, the MJ8_AE worksheet is an abridged version of the equivalent Manual J worksheet. A summary of worksheet functions is provided here:

• Worksheet A holds geographical and climatic data from Table 1 and indoor design condition values. It also is used to produce values for the heating temperature difference (HTD), cooling temperature difference (CTD), and to record the altitude correction factor (ACF) from Table 10A.
• Worksheets B and C produce HTM values for windows, glass doors, and skylights.
• Worksheet D produces HTM values for opaque panels.
• Worksheet E evaluates infiltration.
